Jill Hudson
BA (HONS) Fine Art
A graduate of Falmouth College of Arts, I live and work in Cornwall.
I paint the world around me, sometimes what I imagine, but often the beauty of the sea.
My art is about the landscape of life in all its forms – it’s fleetingness, it’s poetry, it’s loneliness, and it’s reality.
At present my work can be seen in
Barnes Fine art gallery, London
The Byre Gallery, Torpoint, Cornwall
Cotswold Contemporary, Marlow
The Fowey River Gallery, Cornwall
The Harbour Gallery, Portscatho, Cornwall
The Summerhouse Gallery Marazion

A bit about myself…
Born and educated in Merseyside, I had not been abroad before, when at the age of twenty I headed to Uganda for eight months where I worked for a voluntary organisation, I taught English and Chemistry in a rural school. With no electricity or running water, I learnt many things, and was able to experience a very different style of life. I have nurtured a love of travel ever since.
I returned to England with my rucksack and went on to study Fine Art at Falmouth College of Arts, Cornwall. During my degree I studied for three months at the Accademia di Belli Arti, Venice.
Since then, I have been further afield to travel in Peru and Mexico, taking my paints with me. I went on in 2005 to work as Expedition Artist with Raleigh International in Chile.
On leaving the project I trekked to glaciers in southern Chile, and also spent time on Easter Island.
My work has found it’s way further afield to collectors in America, Canada, Germany and the Netherlands.
In 2015 I had the wonderful opportunity of working on the first International Arts festival in Bhutan.
I am lucky enough to sail in Cornwall and sometimes crew on traditional Pilot Cutters, many of my paintings come from these experiences. I try to express the elegance of these boats and the lure of the sea.
